This is such a catch phrase that I hear all the time, I'm really not sure what finding yourself is? Any ideals?

Finding yourself means just that finding yourself. Look inside yourself, why do you live? What do you want to do? If you can answer these questions and the answers don't change with circumstances or the people in your life you have a good idea of who you are. People are born into a culture, finding yourself means trying to understand yourself independent of that culture or the other things that you were told about and have never felt.

finding yourself if getting to know who your true self is. Noone knows you better than yourself and yes you are right people do use that phrase all the time. So next time when you think about or come across the phrase remind yourself that noone truely knows you better than yourself. so find yourself is just getting to know you better. Like learning something new, or getting a new hobby or figuring out your good at something is kind of what getting to know yourself is.

Great question!

Finding yourself, is something that until you have done it, you will never know.

It is in part it is about knowing what your likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, prejudices, aptitudes, abilities, and beliefs (just to start with of course).
While that may seem easy; just consider for a moment how you would react to every opportunity, or life event. And then if that is really the way that you would like to react.

For example, just suppose you meet this totally amazing boy/girl, and you just got all tongue tired and look an idiot. Is that what you would want to be like? Knowing yourself, is knowing how you are going act, and being in control of what you want to do..

And keep asking questions like this!

Personally, I liken it to the expression "To know two, you must first know one."

In other words, in order to find happiness in life and with other people (such as a romantic relationship), you need to learn how to be happy on your own. You need to know what you want out of life, and what you are both willing and unwilling to sacrifice to get it.

So, finding yourself is all about getting to know who you are and what you are all about. Once you know that information, you are much better prepared to deal with the world, work, friends, and romantic relationships. Without it, you are just grasping at straws and hoping you find something that agrees with you.

What a wonderful question. Religion is, of course, the form that one's worship takes. Thus there are thousands of forms. Religion includes a system of religious beliefs and practices. The object of the religion may be false gods or the true God. Hence, there is false religion and there is true. Religion can get very fancy or remain simple. In the former case, such as it is today. In the latter case, such as it was in the Garden of Eden. What then is worship to me? How do I worship? To worship means to obey. And to obey means to worship. The two are intimately connected; indeed, they are coterminous and cannot be separated. Specifically, to obey the Sovereign Lord God Jehovah of Armies is to worship Him. I do my imperfect best in this regard. I fall on my face and get back up to try and try again. In the Garden of Eden, so long as they obeyed Jehovah, Adam and Eve were worshiping him. No temple, no Mosaic Law, no meetings. Simply leave the tree of the knowledge of good and bad alone. Simple. The minute they disobeyed, they stopped worshiping Jehovah. Same with the nation of Israel. The minute they attempted to practice a syncretistic religion they stopped worshiping Jehovah. The minute they made the golden calf, they stopped. And on and on. To worship is to obey. To obey is to worship. Hannah J Paul

Our search for the truth somehow direct us outside of ourselves..We are , in order to find qualities of Peace, Love, Trust, Compassion, balance, Harmony, name it, intensively searching in external world...Does it mean that we are individually short of it? But paradox is that searched ones is in search of it as well, what a circus...or worst, trying artificially extract and intake that Divine qualities from mixed substances external world provide... Now, why don't we seek that qualities within ourselves? In truth we are all made from this qualities . It is that True Self we are encourage to look for. It covered by layers of ignorance and confusion for centuries .... well If you have a piece of gold buried in your basement and do not know it , or ignore it.,then you completely do not have it...instead you have something else, and that "something else" pretend to be you with all millennium experienced consequences... again, somehow believed to be an ultimate....

I think that most people say it thinking that you need to find a purpose for your life. What it really MEANS though seems to be something like this
"You seem like you are wasting your life. Go do somthing that I approve of."

This phrase also has a touch of relativism to it. What is right for you may not be right for me etc....

It means what do YOU want, what are your motivations, what would you be doing if money, family and social confines weren't shaping you. Imagine yourself in a protective bubble that no outside influence could penetrate. Inside your bubble, think about what moves you, what do you see yourself doing? Is that your calling? It isn't about following the crowd it's following your own star.

Here is an idea: we might be going through life without thinking what is our true wishes or our true destiny. We just live our lives day in and day out, we do what is customary, we do what other peolpe have told us is a good idea, or we do what other people do because this is how they achieved success, or we do things in order to not disapoint other people. To find oneself, means to slow down and listen to what your heart tells you.

theres no need to ask people. u just search through the dictionary.
or its means get your lazy attitude out side and face the true ( or act it). because the word find is to target a thing in reality. by the way find doesn't mean know your characteristic. example; i know my attitude well, so i don't find it or act it. example2; i don't know my attitude well, so i need to try it and act it.
beside the answer should go as "you need to find it by your self" its also means stop copying other people life. just do on your own.
