hmm.. if u are reading, try to take notes. on anything that either interests you, or u don't understand. look up words, research the internet, anything u need to do to get a good understanding of the subject.

then, if u need to Memorize stuff for tests, u gotta find little tricks for memorization.. flashcards are a good one. also u can make little songs or anagrams or use tricks such as picking a word where every letter stands for something, and u can remember it for the test and it will remind u specific things about the subject

good luck!

Actually, the best tip I have is this: do what's asked of you. Don't just show up to class, prepare for it. Read the chapter, do the homework as best you can, and prepare questions for the following class. Write summaries after every class, including your notes. Re-read these notes and summaries for every following class until the test. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's really only about a half an hour a day, and it makes SUCH a difference when the actual studying comes around. It's like you've already done more than half the work.

I think repetition is the key. The more you see something, the more familiar it is. The more you have to actively have to think about the subject, the more you'll know how to work with it.

For cramming and bare-fact studying, I like flash cards. For languages, I downloaded a program (for free) that 'tests' how well you know the translations and things. (You type in all the lists yourself, so that counts as studying, too) For history/geography/social studys, I try to make a timeline and/or a sumamry in which I connect as many things together as possible, so it seems logical. Sometimes I make songs or rhymes. Sometimes I have my friends quiz me.

I guess you should just try to repeat everything you're supposed to know as much as possible. Maybe none of these ways work for you, but I'm sure you'll be able to figue out some way to make the material memorable.

Good luck!

I always used flash cards for information I had to memorize (formulas, vocabulary, and dates). I would start the first time with 7 cards and after I had them memorized I'd add three more at a time. I'd practice with the cards a minimum of five minutes a day. I still have some facts memorized from over a decade ago.

Or you can use formula sheets. Start with a standard sheet of paper fill it with everything you need (hand write it). Then take a half sheet of paper and rewrite all the information again, then a quarter sheet, then onto an eighth. By the time you get down to that small of a piece of paper you can't actually read what you're writing but you've written it so many times it should be memorized.

Neither of those take more than five minutes a day, but you have to do them everyday at least once a day if not more often.

I guess the first thing on the road to recovery is admitting your flaws...Well we got that out of the way...GOOD!!...

One of the first things you can do is quit talking that way about yourself! (you are what you think you are) So I think your great and a very good student and that is what I want you to think and say to yourself ALL the time from now on...

Second is you need to focus and really try to enjoy learning..
Try to study with a friend (who will actually study!)
Try to tell your parents or siblings about what you just learned.
Try to repeat to yourself what you learned.
Flashcards are a good way to study.

I simply had to use my mother to go over and over and over and over the same stuff..She would ask me questions and I would have to answer...She knew more about the subject than me when we got finished sudying...lol...

Most of all try to enjoy learning and be grateful and thankful you have the ability and the environment you can learn in..There are many, many people in the world who would give about anything to be ABLE to learn!!...So know you are blessed and be thankful!!..ss
