in self defense of course? I don't think men should hold back if they are being attacked by women unless they are obviously way stronger than the girl then they should restrain her. Hell I know I can take it i'm 6 feet and 152 pounds, but some girls just can't hang and it's sad how they feel since we are told that a man should never hit a woman they feel that they can hit and hit without consequences.

In my religion, if a man hit the woman he`s considered lower than she is for whatever reason.
Lower here doesn`t mean insignificant, but over here it`s known that a man can do more than a woman, once he abuses her, he`s just detested.
I`m sure noone cares about this when it comes for men to show how "manly" they are.
When it comes to self-defense, all of us hit xD whether it`s a man or a woman, a kid or an adult.. A person unconsciously hits just to back something off.

My father always said and taught all of us that the only kind of man who would strike a woman is a coward! Women are no match for men physically and have no business trying to fight with men. He taught my brothers to have respect for females and admire them for their brains and beauty. If they had a problem with a female they were instructed to walk away. It is a rare event that a female is dim enough to fight with a male twice her size and strength. In these rare instances, one should have this female arrested for assault.Never should a male fight with a female unless this female has a weapon. Then he would have a right to defend himself in whatever way is necessary.We were taught that a female has no right to strike a male just like we would not want to be hit! We were to respect others and it was not OK just to strike a male because we were females! In my father's house there were consequences for the girls and boys breaking the rules!

A man shouldn't. Restraint, yes. Otherwise, why would a man put himself in such a position? The only other circumstance of course is a government or political police plant. But those are unnatural situations, false, and criminal in nature in the first place.

Sure, if they are about the same size or she is bigger, defend yourself at all cost. I have an 11 year old son and I have never told him, Don't hit girls, if one that is about his size is hitting on him, defend yourself and hit back. A lot of girls get away with hitting boys because boys are taught at a young age, "You don't hit girls" so they use that to their advantage. If it is to defend themselves, yes a man should hit a woman. I know if I ever just hauled off and hit my husband, he would hit me back.

no hitting by any one that's just sick and wrong get your aggression out in some other more productive way take it from someone who grew up in a house of spousal abuse you watch your mom get kicked around by your step-father and believe me you won't think hitting anyone regardless of sex or who started it is right, no matter how big you are or how much you think you can " take"

If he can defend himself without hitting, then he should find other means. You're a big gal, and maybe a smaller guy would need to hit you in defense

I do not approve/agree with any form of violence, disregarding of the gender, body mass or the age. We humans have been given the gift of speech & should use to our advantage.
Its easy looking for excuses to justify one primitive behaivour.

How sad is it that you need to ask this question? We shouldn't have to "hang." We should be treated, and treat others with respect. I wouldn't dream of physically attacking anyone...and expect the same treatment.
But FYI, if you hit me - it will be the last thing you do as a free person.
