Try to be there for him when he needs some one to talk to. Being a good listener helps alot.

Be supportive of him and listen to whatever he wants to talk about but in the end suggest that he go and talk to a professional counselor. You listening will give him the ability to start opening up to someone but the counselor will be able to help him sort out his feelings. He will also feel safe telling the counselor things that he wouldn't tell you. Don't feel bad because the feelings he has are ones that nobody, young or old, should feel.

I guess the most important thing to tell him is that the divorce is NOT his fault. That there is nothing he could have done to stop the divorce and that this is a decision that his mom and dad made. Sounds crazy to say that but most kids will take the blame for their parents divorce and they will believe they could have fixed the problem if they had done something differently. Good luck and I wish the two of you well because like I said before he will have feeling that nobody should ever have.

Well, I know how your best friend feels. My parents are divorced too and it happened in an unfortunate way. The best thing you should do is try to comfort him. Make him feel better, because being sad isn't going to change anything. I know he would be there for you at a time like this, so be there for him.

Not much else you can do other than be a friend - which is alot, actually.

Just tell him you were thinking about him since he mentioned his parents and wanted to make sure he was doing ok.

If he seems like he wants to talk, ask him how he feels about it.

If he doesn't want to talk, he might need some time to process it. Let him know you're available if he needs you.

Have your parents talk to your best friend. Have them tell him that he is always welcome at your home and he can call them any time. Knowing that there is 'another' stable place to go is better than just you talking to your friend. He has lost his 'anchors'. Just have your family there to help him during the bad times.

Help you with what? They're his parents, not yours. Unless he brings it up, you are best to leave it alone and mind your own business. If he wants to talk about it, then lend him your shoulder. Sometimes no advise is the best advise.

Just be his friend and be there for him. If he needs to "talk", be a good listener. Go with your heart, just let him know you're there for him if he needs someone.

Best of luck.

There isn't anything you can say to make it better but to let him know that whenever he needs to talk you are there for him.
