I know that every baby develops differently, but I feel like every baby I see knows how to mimic waving hello or goodbye. She's normal in all other areas of development. This probably seems like a silly thing to worry about, but that's what first-time moms do best...

As you said they develop differently. They follow by eg. Continue waving goodbye and hello and when she is ready, she will do it. If she is devloping good then there is nothing to worry about. When next you go to her pediatrician bring it up and let them tell you if there is any reason for concern. Because next to you they know your baby better in some level.

As long as she's developing well in all other areas, I wouldn't worry so much about it. I know, it is what us new moms do best. My daughter is 11 months old and isn't even attempting to wave, but she's doing all kinds of other things that are above her age group. Each kid has different priorities. My daughter loves to dance but has no desire to wave, it shows personality. And every kid learns differently, try showing her a few different ways and see if it helps. Good luck!

Well i have 11 month old she'll be pretty soon 12 and she doesn't wave yet, it's not something that they should do after they turn one, that's something that they don't feel doing. But if you really want your baby to do it, just teach her how and she might do it..so don't worry about things like that..

Totally okay. My son hardly did any signs of communication until he was 14 months. We'd been working trying to teach him baby signs since 10 months, and at 14 months he finally waved goodbye (but it wasn't even to tell someone goodbye, it was to tell me he was done eating, which wasn't the sign we'd been teaching, but we went with it). I was worried he was going to be really slow with his communication, but within a couple months he was doing all sorts of signs and once he caught on to one, he caught on to them all.

Now he's 2 1/2 and has a very large vocabulary (he knows all his colors and large words like helicopter, hippopotamus, refrigerator, etc. in addition to regular words for communication). We have no problem communicating with him and understanding him.

Bottom line...even if they start out slow, they'll catch up, and maybe even pass up the other kids their age. So don't worry one little bit!

I've always heard that if your child isn't doing somethings, like waving, it's okay as long as they are excelling in other things, like walking. I think she's fine. One day, out of nowhere, she'll wave.

my daughter is a little over a year and barely ever waves at anything except when she in bed she waves at herself. i wouldn't worry about it any when she gets around to it shell do it. Kids do things at their own schedule not ours.

Mine did that too, in fact she was saying hi and bye bye before she ever waved at anyone. I wouldn't worry about it.
