Stupid q - outside religion there IS no 'objective' standard of right and wrong. People - societies, cultures, sub-groups within both, individuals - make up their own 'subjective' definitions of right and wrong, and categorise phenomena accordingly. You have to examine the categorisations in relation to the background influences in order to understand them, or they simply make no sense. Interestingly, many women even now have a violently negative reaction to porn, and the idea of porn. I wonder why this is? I wonder why so comparatively few men share their revulsion? Much has been written about it, but not much has been written about it that is not emotionally charged, and distortively subjective. It would be educational to read a scientific study of the effects of the porn-saturation of western society - shame no-one has figured out how to implement one. Personally, I think the best historical model for a societal attitude to sex, pornography, religion and culture can be found in some strands of Hinduism. The secular Anglo-American brand we suffer from at the moment is broadly unhealthy, and specifically depressing. Porn - not the worst thing in the world...may even reduce infidelity, who knows? But it's not beautiful, profound, happy or hopeful.

It is defiantly wrong, because it attracts dirty wrinkled, old men like Hugh Hefner. It makes men look for women in a sexual way rather than looking for other qualities in women. You only have to look on the Internet and so many hagged old men still think they have a chance with some bibbo because they think these are the qualities you should look for in a woman, when they so ain't.

It depends in part on how it's used.

I personally like it. Although I have found that over time, I've grown bored with the vanilla flicks - you know the ones where the girl ______s the guy, he then ______s her, and then he ______s on her _______. Yawn! I've become quite jaded.

I've been trying to find pornos for women, but no luck as yet. I'm talking about ones with PLOTS, storylines, scenarios, not just the usual blah blah blah.

But I digressed didn't I?

I think it's fine so long as it isn't used to fuel hungers which are better left repressed. And there are a few of those.

I do have some reservations in that it is interfering in the natural reaction of man to sexual attention from a woman. So it will get him psychologically expecting to have sex and perhaps to have lots of kids without any of these materialising. Which might cause him inner disappointment and anger that his electonic mate is not bearing him children.

But it is just a theory. What do I know.

Wrong or right? Are those the only choices?

Can we actually reduce such a complex issue to a polar dyad?

Are you encluding "erotica" (which is pornography by and for women) in your definition of porn?

There is much to explore before we can judge.

Right, as long as it was done with the consent of the "Stars" and there are no underage issues of course. Why do people get so worked up about something like this? I much rather have a partner, who looks at the occasional Porn in my absence than getting his satisfaction elsewhere...

Right, who can say looking at a beautiful woman/or man naked is wrong, only people who have been brainwashed or mentally sick hold this view,i consider the human form in all its vast shapes and sizers to be of more value to art than some pile of bricks,or some crap abstract painting.

in a free society porn is just a part of life. it's neither right or wrong. so everyone should have the right to choose for themselves whether they like it or they don't

There is nothing wrong with porn.

The only problem is not with porn but with those people that have a problem controling themself if they see it!
It's like alocohol. If you have a probelm with alocohol then it is not good for you to drink. It doesn't mean I can't have a drink. I don't have a problem with it!
Or food for someone fat. If you have a problem with food don't tell me I can't eat anything I want. I AM NOT FAT!!

The real problem is people that want to pass off their problems on others and not accept responcibility for the fact that they are the one who has the issue not everyone else!!
