I am not selling, lending or trading this music. It will be used only by me. I will be making no money off of this and recieving nothing from it but my listening pleasure.

Here is my take. You are, I assume, a citizen who pays taxes. The library recieved money from tax dollars to buy these items. So in a sense the music the library has is owned by everyone within the area who's tax dollars went to buy those items. All you are doing is finally seeing what you helped buy and keep a little for yourself. So is it legal? Maybe not totally. But will they ever find out? Most likely not.

It is illegal because the artists aren't getting paid. What I think is that you should be able to put whatever you want on your computer and be able to burn yourself CD's that you like. They have CD Burners, so why should it be illegal? They have DVD Burners, so why should the user get penalized? The CD Burners and DVD Burners were made not by the users. Limewire (My .mp3 Source) is on the internet, it's not our fault it's on there. Now I think if you burn CD's and sell them to others, that's wrong. Maybe you could sell if to your friends, but not the public. Like at flea markets. They have bootleg DVD's for $1...

If you do it ONCE then I guess it's a little okay. But if you do it twice, it will eventually. You're basically downloading tracks for free so that you don't have to buy it from the store.

In Europe it's legal so long as it's only for your personal use.

It's illegal, but who's going to check? I do it all the time. As long as it's for your own personal use, no one is going to bother you.

No, it is still illegal, because the artists are not getting paid for their music. Everyone still does it anyways.
