Are there any tax implications or other penalties. Its a totally legal transaction as far as I'm aware. Thanks to those who responded already, sorry I couldn't reply to explain more clearly as the forum doesn't allow me to do so..

With an amount that large, better check and make absolutely certain it's a legit transaction (and if you're sending it to Africa, especially in the region near Nigeria, read up on the 419 scam and the Lads from Lagos).
Tax-wise, it's hard to answer if we don't know what country you are in and where it is going. Laws vary, you know, and there are cases where one country has boycotted or blocked trade with another. Furthermore, there are some countries which ban the physical removal of their currency from the country proper.
