I live in Tucson, so I need a jacket that I wear in the heat, as well as something that will protect me from the rain. And of course has armor, cause I want to be a smart motorcyclist!

You might try the Alter Ego jacket from Joe Rocket. It's a textile jacket, waterproof liner, with huge removable panels to expose large mesh areas.

However, you might consider a leather jacket as well. If Tucson is anything like Phoenix, you don't want to be out when it rains anyway (just wait 15 minutes for the rain to stop). In extreme heat, you do not need ventilation, you need insulation. Anything over 98 degrees and vents simply raise your core temperature instead of cooling you off, and a hot, dehydrated rider on the 404 is an accident waiting to happen.

Remember, it's better to sweat than bleed!

there is a mesh type jacket that the word is, alot cooler than leather in the summer, and does offer pretty good protection from road rash. i just cant remember the name for it.
if i could only remember what site i seen it, but there is 1 site that is advertising biker body armor that looks like it would be thermal underwear, has armor set up in highly strategic area's, and is thin enough to be able to be worn under jeans. i found it by accident doin a google for 'motorcycle body armor'.

edit: there is a thread over at harleychatgroup about how to beat the heat and still have some sort of 'armor' besides just having jeans on.

For a leather jacket the best is the Alpinestars Stage jacket.
The entire front and part of the back is perforated. The airflow on these leather jackets is great. In the picture of the blue version ALL of the blue is perforated.
These are on closeout for 299 Shipped and retail for - $379.95

For textile jackets there are many to choose from. Textile do not do half as well as leather and will wear through. My personal opinion is they are good for low speed but not high speed accidents 40mph or faster. This is from seeing the difference.
As Textile jackets go look at Alpinestars, AGV, and MotoGP. MotoGP has a leather and Textile mix (Good Choice) see 3rd link down.

For a MotoGP jacket I like the Apex and the MotoGP grid. They are textile and leather. Leather in important areas and textile for airflow.

I normally wear a Cortech GX Air on hot days - it's made of polyester mesh with a removable rain liner, and it has CE approved armor, too. The ultimate in mesh motorcycle gear is probably the Motoport kevlar mesh - it's more expensive, but the toughest mesh around.

A note on waterproofing: On hot and rainy days, I've found it's easier to wear Frogg Toggs over my motorcycle gear.

There are several jackets out that will fit your needs. A mesh textile jacket is what you are probably looking for AZ weather. Here's a good site I've ordered from with great closeout specials.

Depends on how much protection you're willing to sacrifice.

Personally, I'd get perforated leathers...its the best protection you can get for hot weather.

If u want to be alittle less protected, you can buy a mesh jacket, but that's up to you.
