I put a disposable dinner tray directly on the rack (instead of a cookie sheet as per instruction) and then boosted oven passed recommended temprerature to fast pre-heat oven. The plastic tray melted, and solidified all over the rack and bottom of the oven, I have been able to scrape most of it off the bottom of the oven but the rack is another story. Any suggestions other than melt it off (makes too much smoke), would be appreciated.
Serious answers only, I already know I'm an idiot.

Maybe if was a self clean oven you could set it and it will burn off until the smell is gone. Open windows so any fumes will go out and you're not breathing it. Not sure what to do otherwise.

here's a guess. Lighter fluid removes a lot of things. It also melts plastic. Try this on the rack. Maybe if the rack was cold enough too it would crack off. Set it outside (assuming you are in a winter climate). Get it really cold and hit it with a hammer but only enough to break the plastic. Gas or paint thinner might also melt the plastic. Make sure you wash this stuff really well afterward though. it's highly flammable. Have you tried a putty knife? Or better yet what about those brushed that you clean the grills with that have that little thing on it that you scrape the grids with. Sandpaper? nail polish remover? Take the pieces of plastic that you have from the dish and test stuff on it. If something makes it melt then go with that. Can't think of anymore. good luck.

If you have a pressure washer, or know someone that does take the racks outside and spray with oven cleaner and let sit for a couple of hours then use the pressure washer. If no pressure washer is available spray with oven cleaner and use one of those stainless steel scrubbies.
