Giraffes also have 7 vertebrae in their necks as well. There necks are adapted so they are able to reach leaves off of tall trees. One interesting thing about giraffees is they cannot lay down because the weight of their necks is so heavy, they can actually suffocate. So they sleep either standing up or sitting.

I asked a similare question to this to my cub pack (scout leader) one night. I asked them to name so many animals that have the same amount of bones in the back as us,, To my supprise one of them answerd with a giraffe, when i asked them to name another animal the same voice replied A BABY GIRAFFE,,,, wishfull thinking for an 8yr old

13 thoraic, 7 cervial (Elongated, in the neck), 7 lumber, 3 sacral. 30 bones make up the entire back bone.
