The sun would be shining just like it is now. I would be trying to lose about 20 pounds just like now. My twins would be 21 & moderately distrustful of the govt, just like now.
My taxes would be more than I like paying but a bargain for what a lucky guy I am to be living in America, just like now. My family would practice tolerance & acceptance despite not completely understanding all of the ideologies we encounter in this melting pot, just like now.
Men & women wearing the uniforms of my countries military would be standing post 24/7 around the world near & far from their loved ones to have my back ,just like today.
Some of them would have made the ultimate sacrifice because that's what they do during war or peace. Maybe not 3000 of them, perhaps double that, perhaps 10% of that But they are all heroes to this veteran just like now.
Our elected officials ability to affect much needed adjustments to our welfare, education, health, environmental, transportation, fiscal & foreign policies would be screaming for non partisan compromise just like now.
Professional athletes, entertainers, corporate CEOs will be PAID obscene sums of money for mediocre performances, while teachers ,police, fire, and military are paid embarassingly little for how much they're asked to perform. Just like now
Our government will be bloated, redundant, & inefficient Just like now.
People all over the world will look at us w appreciation & respect, or look at our excess & wastefulness shaking their head w disdain, just like now
AND MOST UNDENIABLY, people all over the world will speak w pride of their relationship w America & others will stop at nothing to tke what we have & make it their own.....JUST LIKE NOW
It'll probably happen while we're posturing about whether 9/11 would have happened w Gore, or if we would have had 5 yrs without another 9/11 had Bush not been elected.
Listen up America. There aren't any "do overs" in life as I've seen it the last 50 years, & we have lots of work to do. If you hate Bush good for you! And if you over there despise Pelosi I'm happy you all found something you're good at, but please could you just this once build yourself up w actions & solutions, don't build yourself up running your neighbor down.
Most who bothered to read any of this know of George Carlin's amusing observations about life's truisms.
He made this observation most recently did you ever wonder why we Americans claim we're one nation, indivisible but some of the most skilled coalition builders in recent history got shot early on JFK,RFK,Dr King
Some are just salivating over how many opportunities the President's speech will provide for crucifying him w vitriolic garbage & others will await the Dems response w equal venom.
Just to be different could you try just as hard to find ONE THING, even a little thing that's positive?? PLEASE !! You DON'Y want me on this soapbox again..........

We wouldn't be preparing to hear an unpopular president delivering an unpopular speech about the unpopular state of the unpopular union...because Gore would have been elected in a popular election. Popular means 'well-liked' and 'by most people'.

Saddam would have moved into America and set up his palaces in plush areas of the country and Gore would have free access to vacation there. They would be good buds and our nation would have a special day named after Saddam like we do our presidents.

We would be paying higher taxes and we'd have 2 more liberal judges on the SJC. (Shudder) Screw that. I was going to go on, but I don't think I need to.
I don't say this often, but I really did the right thing voting for Bush twice.
