Our mailman has always been nice, but one day last year we got to know him almost too well. He came to our house to deliver a package. My sister in law and I were outside talking to him. He bent over to pick up the package off of the deck and accidentally let out this really loud f*rt. We were all three so embarrassed, but he was really cool about it, and since then he is so funny. It's sorta like after you f*rt in someone's presence, you can say and do almost anything and it is ok. We have a blast. He's always cracking jokes with us and he leaves us little holiday treats in the mailbox. Funny guy.

Years ago we did. The mail carriers would actually sit and "visit" with you, but not where I live now. It darned near takes an act of congress to get them to put a postage stamp on for you. It isn't even that hard to do now with the age of no-lick, peel and stick.. And yet we continue to take the time every Christmas to pick out a special card, tuck a 50 dollar bill inside it, put it in an envelope with their name on it and leave it in the mailbox for them as a token of our appreciation of their public service. I wonder what they would do if you put their name and home address on it, your return address and left money for postage and a little note asking them to please affix postage to this envelope. Do you think they would actually put postage on it, take it back to the post office to be stamped and let it be delivered to their house by THEIR mail carrier as you had requested or would they leave the .39 in the mailbox, take the envelope and go on? OR would they KEEP the .39 to make it look like they had let it go on through the mail to their house?

We had a very nice gentleman postman some years ago in the late 1970's who was always, happy, chatty and friendly. He would talk about all sorts of things and knew all the people he delivered mail to.

When I was growing up, my mailman knew the names of everyone on our street, including every kid! He was a great guy. Everyone on his route was sad when he retired.
