i have read in plenty of fashion magazines, in order to get the perfect fit, alot of the things celebrities wear are tailored....since im not a celebrity but want a perfect fit too when and what clothes should i tailor(what types, what brands, cheaps/expensive, etc.)

I always have to have my pants altered. I am too tall most of the time for petite and too short for regular. So 99% of the time my pants need to be shortened. Never done any other type of alteration except for dresses for two weddings where I was the bride's maid.
clothing off the rack does not fit everybody the same way. Espeically true if you are between sizes. A good tailor can help you make an OK shirt fabulous. I see limit to brands and or cost of clothing that you can tailor.

I always have my jeans tailored because I am short. Other than that you could have suits, button down shirts and anything that could fit you better tailored. :)
