I just wondered, because people here often ask if file sharing is illegal-which it is. But what, if anything, are entertainment companies, goverment agencies etc likely to actually do about it?

I know for a fact that corporations like Sony monitor/spy on users of file sharing networks.

About as likely as the corporations dropping the price of DVDs we buy that we already bought on video, or CDs we already bought on vinyl.

My heart bleeds for them.

Hello,
Up loaders get it in the neck, down loaders less so , and seeders or sharers or gigs of down loadable files more so. The problem is at the moment the sheer size/amount of people to be taken to court is massive so they can only go for the big fish.

Mainly just use spyware to watch what you download, the jail time can get pretty harsh too, First they would probably send you a E-Mail saying 'quit downloading illegal material' , if you were downloading it they would send you to jail for who knows how long (depends on what you were downloading). If you distributing- probably a few years... check out the link..

It appears like someone interior the IT branch replaced a placing that prevented human beings from seeing others' pcs. I propose you purchase a broadband router to keep your information deepest. although, it is going to prolly ward off you from having access for your campus' server.

i don't understand why they don't just leave people to download whatever they want because most of us downloading programs go out and buy the program if we like it same with movies if we like it we buy it the only thing i have downloaded and not gone out and bought are e books. we can all record programs off the TV but we still go out and buy programs we like on DVD we can record music better now than ever before but record sales are still up
