Do you think Maria Sharapova will ever surpass Serena Williams in number of grand slams won?

Serena is a very strong and powerful hitter, all though Maria can't scramble very fast obviously because she is so tall, her game seems to revolve around power shots. I noticed Serena was a lot better at approaching the net when she was Maria's age, but Maria is still younger, so there are many ways to improve her game.

I don't think so. I do think that Serena is a stationary target at 7, though. Serena's best tennis is definitely behind her.

But Sharapova is just not dominant enough to get more than 1 slam a year right now, and her pace is more like 1 every other. I guess a lot depends on JHH's and Mauresmo's health.

With retirements of Davenport and Clijsters, there might be more of a chance for her, but Vaidisova and Jankovic are catching up fast and may start winning slams as early as this week.

Sharapova will be surpassed by younger versions of herself, who hit just as hard, serve just as hard, and most importantly, have more variety in their games, something which Maria lacks completely.

I think Maria has a good chance to surpass Serenabecause she is so young and also has a better body shape. I think Serena's overly bulky body is the cause of all of her injuries. But just remember that Serena has already achieved and is already proven anything said about Sharapova is just speculation :-)

Since neither of them has won a Grand Slam yet (and only three women have ever won a Grand Slam) -- I think it is likely that they will both end up tied at zero. I'd say that at this point in time, Maria has a better chance at winning all four majors in the same calendar year than Serena.

its a bit hard to say, because they both are completly different players. maria is only young and a fantastic player !

Williams sisters should not be allowed to play in the women's tennis. Crocodile Dundee should give them a quick physical.
