ok ok ok i know it is not a reliable source to check your own cervix and it can be uncleanly..etc..however, i am looking for signs of pregnancy, and i am about 5 DPO. had intercourse on what i believe to be my fertile days. what does a "newly pregnant cervix" feel like? how about one that is not pregnant but after ovulation?

please only answer if you have knowledge on the topic, thanks!

It isnt that horrible to do a self check, as long as you wash your hands!

When I was pregnant, my doctor had me apply primrose directly to my cervix. So obviously, it isnt that big of a deal as long as your hands are clean.

But I would have to agree that it will be a little softer, but you wouldnt be able to tell much until you are much further along.

My doctor is aware that I check my cervix as a way to check for ovulation and his remarks to this was as long as your hands are clean and your finger nails are trimmed and clean as well then you are fine just don't over do it. ( meaning don't check like 20 times a day ) Pick one time during the day to check and check at that time each day. Unfortunately this method is not a reliable source of knowing if you are or not pregnant. Each woman's cervix changes at different times through out there cycle so therefore there is no way of knowing if you are pregnant by using this method alone. Your best bet is to just wait it out and see if you miss your period or go to your doc and request a blood test although some won't give one until you have already missed a period. I have done tons of research on cervical position and what not and even spoken with my doctor who did confirm that cervical position alone can't indicate pregnancy. So sorry about that, I wondered for a long time about that as well but that is when I spoke with my doctor. If checking your cervix was so horribly bad then why have so many women who use this method conceived and lead perfectly normal happy healthy pregnancies. Sorry I had to add that in there lol Alright well good luck to you hun and tons of baby dust to you.

Arrrrgh you know your Not supposed to do self checks... Then Y do you??? Its SO dangerous!!!!

Anyway it would be too soon to notice any change anyway... so your risking infection and possibly harming your possible unborn child for what?

If you are PG your cervix will soften... but not for at least a month or so.

So please... do yourself a favor and keep you fingers off your cervix! Its a Very Bad Habit to get into.

You don't feel anything in the cervix for sure. you need to wait till you miss your period. usually you will get period like cramps and your boobs will hurt a lot. Youll also feel very sleepy and get tired easily
