"Arugula!"
I use it instead of a swear word. It makes people laugh.

p.s. You should learn how to spell your favorite word, if it is "lavender."

I really enjoy your question because actually I collect words. It's a wierd thing I have done since I was little. I keep a little notepad in my purse and I have 3 categories: "words I adore" "words I abhor" and "words I am just not sure" I know it sounds totally silly, but it is a fun little collection and it is free! I started because on vacation to a native american site when I was about 8 years old I learned 'pow wow' and really didn't want to forget it, so I wrote it down, and to keep me distracted during the long trip, I kept adding to my list of words I liked, and then started thinking of words I didn't like...when I was about 13 or 14 the "not sure" category came in to play. You should see all the notepads I have! It may not be a great collection, but I am a formidable scrabble opponent! LOL! Ok, the criteria for my list(s) are not what you would think, it is not the definition of the word that draws me, but more of the sound and the rythym. I have always suspected that on a subconcious level, the definition is linked to a memory or something, but really it is just a fun little game I play with myself. Currently, the newest to the "adore" list is "Shakamak" a park in Indiana with that name. I believe it is also of native american origin, but I will know more when I go there! The newest on the list of "abhor" is 'ombudsmen' which is TOTALLY uncomfortable to say and you could simply use "liason" instead! on the 'not sure' list, the most recent entry is 'insubordination' and it is just one of those I can't decide on, kinda rythmic, kinda bulky and uncomfortable. so tell me, am I crazy? Don't answer that! Have a great day and thanks for asking!

CHEERS!

Plethora and Superfluous. They are just fun to say! Haha. They're fun, too, because you can use them in the place of a perfectly acceptable simple word, and yet make yourself sound more intelligent.

So are the thoughts of an English nerd. :-)

Onomatopoeia. It is a word, or group of words, that imitates the sound it is describing, for example: Meow, or Woof Woof.

I just love unusual words and this is one that I learned many years ago in grade school.

tabernacle-used in the Bible. It is pretty much a church. A place of worship. Just because it is not a word that is used everyday. Its different. That's the best explanation i can come up with.

I like saying fudge instead of &*#@ and I like surreptitious because it was one of my vocab spelling words in the 9th grade and my mom taught me a rhythm for in so I could spell it and I never forgot it.
