I think in some systems it's beneficial for the QB to have to win his job. The Jets need to prove that this was not a fluke season and Pennington needs to have two good back-to-back seasons for a change. I think a minor QB controversy is a good way to keep him on his toes.

Besides you never know if that reconstructed shoulder of his is going to hold up, so I'm sure they want to know what they have in Patrick Ramsey and Brad Smith even (although he's listed as a WR).

It is because Pennington is a limited athlete. He is slow and his weak arm limits what the Jets can run offensively. By contrast, Kellen Clemmons is fast on his feet and has a strong arm, and most of Pennington's assets can be taught....

Every player should have to WIN their starting position. You shouldn't just give a spot to a player because they are so-and-so or because they were good last year. If Joe Somebody is better that Penningotn than Joe Somebody should start.

Starting Spots should be EARNED!
