There are 3 answers.
1. Armageddon is the first battle recorded in Human history (Egyptian) and is a place.
2. It is the term used to describe what historians call "The Jewish Wars" between Rome and various Hebrew peoples (Eg. Essenes, Masada etc.) that was a dramatic turning point in history and most scholars feel this is the Armageddon the Bible refers to as. 1. the Bible said it would start with a generation of Christ's death - which it did (@ 66A.D. I think) and the number of the beast (originally 616 later changed to 666) refers to Roman emperors, and a whole host of other more detailed reasons.... It is said that it eventually lead to the Christianising of Rome and therefore Christs Kingdom (e.g. The Papacy) on Earth...
3. Some Christians believe it has yet to happen despite the clear Biblical contradiction (Some are yet living!!!) of this. They see it as the end of the world - at least as we know it now...

Armageddon (Greek αρμαγεδδων; also spelled Har-Magedon in some modern English translations) is a climactic battle between good and evil mentioned in the Book of Revelation in the Christian New Testament, or more generally, an apocalyptic catastrophe. [YET TO COME...usually meant to refer to when God comes back to judge man]

The word Armageddon in Scripture is known only from a single verse in the Greek New Testament[1], where it is said to be Hebrew, but it is thought to represent the Hebrew words Har Megido (הר מגידו), meaning "Hill of Megiddo". Megiddo was the location of many decisive battles in ancient times (see Battle of Megiddo)[citation needed].

Before the Second World War, the First World War was commonly referred to in newspapers and books as "Armageddon", in addition to "the Great War".

There hasn't been an Armageddon yet because that's supposed to be the end of the world. As you can see, the world hasn't ended yet. But yes, bad things are supposed to happen to those who acted badly in life. (This is all only if you believe some of Christian prophecy.)

Armageddon is the supposed "end of the world" in Christian mythos. It hasn't happened yet.
