I'm a sophmore in high school and all year i've been trying to figure out what career would be best for me. I've got a 3.9 GPA and do good on all the tests but i have no idea what i want to go in to. i've thought about business and medicine but cannot decide which is best for me. Anyone have any suggestions? Of course i want to be making a lot of money but i'm not sure which type of doctor/surgeon or what i would like to do in business i should do

There's a great book called "What Color is Your Parachute?" - and it helps lots of people figure out "what they want to be when they grow up"

Also - you can do some testing. There is a test called the Myers/Briggs test that will tell you what career you will do well in/love in regard to your personality type. There are a few other tests as well.

Another thing you should do is talk to your school counselor. They may know of some testing or additional counseling that is available to you, which would help you in your decision.

Our society is odd - in that we expect 16 year olds to know what they'll be doing for the rest of their lives. Very often, at that age, you just haven't been exposed to enough life experiences to know.

You can always start college with an undecided major - and wait for some of your classes there to inspire you. But truly - having a plan and KNOWING where you're going in life - seems to work very well.

Congratulations on your 3.9 - and good luck to you!
