We have just switched our central heating on for the first time this winter and none of the radiators in the house are working, upstairs or down.

We have gas central heating, but not one of those boilers which fires when you need water (not sure what it is called).

Also, none of the radiators have points to bleed them at. They have a temperature control at one end and a random one at the other which doesn't seem to do anything.

Help?

Edit : Some radiators have bleed points. Some don't.

If the radiators do not have bleeds, find the highest point in the water loop. Most likely you will find a bleed there. Bleed the air out. Also, you can purchase an automatic bleeder valve that can be routed outside to dump any water that escapes during the bleed process. Consider the circulation pump. Is it running. If so, is it cavitating? Cavitation usually occurs if the water level is low or if there is a leak on the suction side that would allow air into the system. Good Luck!

By the way you don,t have a Central heating. Central heating blow air through the went not through radiator. Make shore heater is on and check pilot lamp if that two work see hot water pipe is getting hot. The best way is call a pro it hard to explain all.

verify your pump... sounds like the boiler is overheating....this could reason the boiler noise and the lack of downstairs warmth. The pump could be close on your warm water tank, approximately 6-8 inches around, on a 22mm pipe. Theres a flat screw with a coin slot on the pump, do away with this (could dribble somewhat) below is the top og the shaft of the pump. This has a screwdriver fit in it, and shuold be turning. consistent with danger its caught, attempt turning the shaft(be conscious whjen it spins it extremely is going to throw your screwdriver out. Is there power to the Pump? positioned device off, do away with treminal conceal, get a mains tester, device on, then verify for power on the pump. If there's no power on the pump, its administration board time, if there is, however the pump isn't spinning, time for a clean pump.
