it seems to me that they were being fair and that if the parents were controlling their child this wouldnt have happened, not to mention that they were overly compensated with the 3 extra tickets to anywhere in the US!

YES!! Parents need to start raising their children properly again. Teach them manners and that htey need to do what they are told.

I applaud Air Tran for actually removing the kid and her parents from the flight. Just because they can tolerate atheir child screaming and acting like a wild monkey doesn't mean everyone else will.

Tough call. we do not know how long they had to tolerate this child and her screaming, but certainly the parents should have been parents and forced this child to sit down. Granted I wouldn't want to share the flight with a screaming child, but there was a ticket purchased for this little "darling"

As for the compensation, I think the airline was fair in offering them to fly on another flight - no issue with that. I don't like that they gave them a refund, free flight the next day AND three additional tickets.

But hey, the airlines never seem to care if THEY force everyone to run late - in a way I am glad they got a taste of their own medicine.

Yes, and the parents should not have been compensated. I already answered a very similar question to yours based on the same incident. It wouldn't be fair to you if I were to copy and paste, so I won't. Feel free to view my profile, however.

There is no end to the idiocy and mediocrity in this modern world.

I think that it was fair. Probably best for the little girl too. Since they didn't force her to go right then, she might not be so afraid of flying the next time. As much as it costs to fly, the deal they got was really fair. Hell, I sometimes let myself get bumped just to get travel vouchers.
