They do seem to be oxymoronic.

The conservation movement was started by Theodore Roosevelt, a Republican and by most standards a conservative. Much of the money that goes into conservation is raised from hunting and fishing license fees, and I suspect the majority of sportsmen tend to be conservative. In the area where I live, large tracts of forest and wetlands have been donated by men who could be described as conservatives to the Forest Preserves and the Nature Conservancy. The huge arboretum near my home has been created by a trust established by a very conservative businessman.

It seems to me that your question has been based on a false premise.

C'mon another tired inaccurate stereotype label!! I'm a Dem, liberal on more issues than many who claim to be liberal, And so conservative on some others O reilly would be backing away..

Don't know you, and won't pass judgement, but this liberally conservative Dem who voted for Gore then Bush in 04 is proud to have been enjoying the human pride of helping regenerate our home, this earth since Rachel carson's "Silent Spring" Even heard of it?

Planted 100s of sapling trees w NPS along flood damaged Potomac River, & spent days removing mountains of trash from the park Was it only conservatives who thoughtlessly pitched their garbage in streams & forests?

However I don't support pointless delays building a desperately needed roadway because the brown tree frog population might be disturbed. Does that strip me of being a DEM?

Ask a question about how to get more folks involved in conservation instead of throwing hateful accusations around you have no factual basis for.

Here's an idea....try building yourself up w positive productive action instead of building yourself up by tearing me down because you are afraid we might agree more than you think!!

Wouldn't that be something

My guess would be that 'conservatives' have a better understanding of what true conservation is. Most of the people who practice outdoor recreation and actually venture into wilderness areas tend to come form conservative backgrounds.

This places them at odds with the 'BMW liberals' who want to pass regulations on outdoor places they have never seen.

Maybe because the people you claim are conservatives don't claim themselves to be conservative..

I get called a republican, or a conservative, and I am neither. I am Conservative and smart enough to know right from wrong... Not what I think is right from wrong. If you were to look at my views and judge them... I'd be a liberal.

So maybe your opinion should be thought over? Might as well think it over twice because you'll probably make the same mistake again.

They are not anti-conservation, they are anti-big Government regulation. They believe that a local person will make a better decision on their own behalf than to have a government bureaucrat make the decision for them from thousands of miles away.

what exactly are you saying? conservatives dont conserve land, people, government?? you need to be more specific, maybe add some details or facts to prove their inablility to be conservative and in which way... I dont understand all the ambiguous conservative bashing. Formulate a good question and then email it to me and i will answer it.

That's a generalization.

There's conservation and there's stupdity, such as a highway's completion being held up because it MIGHT harm a bird habitat.

The highway in question would relieve a huge amount of traffic congestion and thus reduce vehicle emissions.

So who is right?

you couldn't be more wrong
nature is cruel
libs kill with kindness

example deer hunting
you think it is wrong probably
did you know the largest killer of deer is starvation in the winter..
by harvesting a buck in the fall
you save enough food for a doe and her faun
there by increasing the size of the herd in the spring
management is real conservation
