Mountain with two names?

Could someone please explain to me why the Mt McKinley is also known as Denali.

Denali, meaning "Big Mountain" was the name given by the natives. McKinley, by our government after McKinley was assassinated.

Denali National Park (Alaska) is where Mt. McKinley is located. Denali means " The Great One" in the Dena'ina language. Denali is the official name recognized by the state of Alaska.
