I look at it "this" way. If a person, celeb. or not, has effected another persons life in "whatever" way, and that person dies, if it makes them sad to where they cry, so be it. I recently attended a friends funeral, I was sad that this friend died, and I did cry somewhat. However, I did not cry because others cried. Everyone feels the way they do, for whatever reason. When Princess Diana died, it saddened me, because I believe she was a really good person. When the Tsunami hit and all of those people ended up dead or homeless or lost a loved one, I cried for their loss. I donated what I could, and prayed for all of them. There are a LOT of important things in our lives that touch our hearts. To say you would rather donate money to the people who lost so much in the Tsunami, than to cry over the death of Princess Diana, one has nothing to do with the other. Both tragic, but neither related to one being more important than the other. 2 losses, 2 sad situations. PERIOD.

It's okay. Some people have a hard time crying at all, even when it's a deep cut to their own feelings.
As far as telling other people what or who they should or shouldn't cry about be happy they have a sensitive sense of empathy. Sometimes people connect deeply to a celebrity (and you are wrong, not all celebrities are rich, but it's a common misconception)
If it weren't the great sense of empathy we allow ourselves to have, the world would hurt even greater than it does now. The United States has shown a greater amount of empathy to the world through dollars and volunteers and government policy, that we are mocked when our officials deny some of that because of inadequate resources.
Speaking of the Indonesian tsunami; remember how America was mocked for the seemingly inadequate millions we originally pledged? Did anyone mock the big fat $0 that other nations refused to pledge? Our sense of empathy showed that we can dig deeper, and we did.
Empathy is another character trait that made America great. BTW, do you know how much Canada gave to the tsunami relief? How about Mexico?

People who are larger than life truly are larger than life!
People come to represent something. In essence, Diana represented a different version of the same thing Mother Teresa represented- a socially conscious and supportive woman. Diana may not have been as poor or pious- but let me ask you, in the days of technological media, could Diana have renounced her status and travelled the countryside as Siddharta (Buddha) did? No!
People MEAN something to us, and we mourn the inspiration. We mourn because we are coming down from a flight so high and so beautiful that the earth is truly a lowly place without them.
Now, everybody else?
Oh, pish posh. But you gotta leave Diana and presidents and leaders and so forth out of this...

Death is a sad event, reguardless if it is someone famous or not. Of course a victim of Tsunami is much more tragic than an overdose of a movie star! You have a right to feel any way you want, and no one can tell you different!! (actually, no one SHOULD tell you different, but they probably will try)

Nobody cries for anyone. People cry for themselves. Yes, it is true that some people cry on any occasion as if their purpose of life is to shed tears. The other day a coworker was cry because one of her character had died- not in real life but on the tv show. I wanted to slap her so hard that poor gullible *****.

true. I dont understand why people find the need to obsess over someone they didnt know. I think we need to focus on the people we love but at the same time we cannot ignore or forget our other brothers and sisters out there. This is one of the qualities I think society has killed
