I got employed as a receptionist in August, by October the Secretary was terminated for leaking confidential information. By the 2nd week of January i got promoted to Secretary.

Some how i feel like i cost the secretary to loose her job.On the day before the fiasco began, it was way past closing time and the secretary went her own way off the premises with one of the agents so i called one of the manager and explained the situation to him (keep in mind that i have no keys to lock up). The next day when they questioned the secretary about the conversation she had with the Agent, she said it was business related but she could not disclose the content to management. Should i feel guilty or responsible for that?

Probably not. Nobody likes a nosy person or a tattle tale and for numerous reasons its best not to get involved because you can easily get yourself in just as much trouble by doing so, but it doesn't sound like you did anything nosy or that you weren't supposed too. If she was doing something that was against the rules than the burden lies on the terminated employee. If she was fired wrongfully than she needs to deal with it and you need to watch out or find a new job before they treat you unfairly as well.

From what you have written, it does not seem like you should feel guilty. However, your story does seem to be a little incomplete and ambiguous. I have learned that a conscious is something that we all have. If this is haunting you, maybe you should look into why. Is it because you did rat her out with hopes of getting her job? Do you feel bad about getting her fired? Did you know that your actions would cause her termination? Or, do you feel guilty because you now have the job? If someone else would have been selected, would you feel the same?

If all you did was call to inform that the person in charge of closing duties was absent, then I can't see how you could possibly be at fault for her losing her job. The only person that got the secretary in trouble was the secretary.

No. Don't feel bad. Your situation sounds circumstantial. All you were doing is letting someone know that your coworker was gone and you couldn't lock up. The fact that she was doing her thing with someone she wasn't supposed to be doing it with is not your fault.
Congrats on the promotion....! Look on the bright side: now that that's happened, you kinda know what your employer is looking for and you can be extra careful to keep your nose clean. :-)

properly i might want to say both one among you. If she didnt describe the way you've been replacing that it become probable a lie. If she's ignoring you bypass make different acquaintances reason she's no longer a real chum. yet i does no longer start up calling her names reason human beings like that are snotty, and could tell on you so instantly. you've each and every correct to be mad, yet dont say stuff like that to her. merely dont search for suggestion from her and go away her on my own. "what is going round comes round" and go away it like that.

Nope. Enjoy your promotion. It's not your fault, it would have been discovered somehow eventually anyway.

It doesn't sound like you "ratted" her out. You did what you had to do to protect the company when it needed to be closed for the day.

Wow! You're a secretary? You use poor wording and need to do a spell check. I don't even understand your story....

Heck no. You were doing your job. You were not even tattling - just trying to lock up the office.

She did what she did - and you had nothing to do with it.

Congratulations on your promotion!!
