Sinatra was not a crooner. Bing Crosby was a crooner early in his career. Maybe Frank was a little bit of a crooner very early on. Sinatra was a singer of popular music. His style was to have a great emphasis on phrasing. Words and lyrics are very well enunciated, but also very heartfelt. A lot of his music from the 1930s to the 1990s falls into the categories of the Great American Songbook as well as Standards. Sinatra has a huge body of work. I think I have about 110 Frank Sinatra CDs, with very little duplication of material. For many artists and bands, we think they've really been around when they have ten or twenty albums. Sinatra is among the most prolific recording artists of all time. Many times he did venture away from the genres that he was most known for, and he did great work there too. Beware, once you start getting into Sinatra, there's no going back. You'll be driven to collect everything he's ever done, and you'll love every minute of it.

Frank sinatra made what is now known as easy listening. Kind of big band/ lounge musicStrings and horns in the background, nothing too over the top. Frank Sinatra was however the pioneer of the "concept album" he put records and songs together that would somewhat tell a story, and always sort of flow together.

He was a "swooner," which means he was a real heartthrob to the girls at his time. He had a really smooth voice, so singing was easy for him. I don't remember everything about him, but you can check out wikipedia for more info.
