Eggplant can be delicious when prepared right. I think you can just buy it from you local grocer.

One of the methods of self-inducing labor that's been sweeping the internet in recent years is the myth that eggplant will start labor. This maternity myth started when a news story began circulating about a restaurant in Georgia named Scalini's. Apparently the mothers of over 300 babies have gone into labor in the past 23 years, within 48 hours of eating the eggplant parmegiana.
The funny part is, it may just be that the dish causes the women to go into labor, but it's not the eggplant. The herbs Oregano and Basil have properties that may cause contractions, though it is not yet known how or in what quantities. This is why, in aromatherapy circles, these herbs and essential oils are to be avoided whenever possible during pregnancy.

Being someone who has had 3 pregnancies that all went overdue and were all induced at the hospital. I have tried a lot of things. Walking, sex, nipple stimulation, foods, and the doctor stipping my membranes. And honestly everything seemed to help a little, but the food helped the least. The theory behind the foods they say to try, is that it will make your bowels loose which will also loosen up you cervix. Well, I tried greasy pizza, hot wings, and exotic fruit juices (all at the same time), and it did loosen up my cervix a little...but it also loosened up my bowels a lot. I don't think it was worth it, but maybe if I had gone into labor it would have been? I guess try whatever you want, my doctor actually recommended most of the things I tried. But try not to go crazy doing it! Personally with the eggplant thing, I don't like how it tastes. I think you just buy it a regular grocery store's produce section and you probably bake it in the oven?

I have no idea about the eggplant, but as a mother of 2(one recently born), I used Castor Oil 3 wks before due date. The bottle will give the dosage and label says in 6hrs you'll have B.M., but for pregnant women, you go into labor! No joke!! I had both babies the next day! Cost $2.97 at your local Wal-Mart!!

Eggplant is also called aubergine and is a great tasting vegetable. It is used in moussaka so try and prepare some and see if it induces labor. I wouldn't think so, but the dish tastes nice, so who cares :-)

I've heard that too, but I haven't tried it. I tried castor oil. It was nasty and it didn't work. I also tried a million jumping jacks. And everything else I could think of. And the baby ended up being 2 weeks late. THe baby will come when its ready.

I have never heard of eggplant inducing labor- but eggplant is a great veggie. You can cut in thick slices, dip the slice in flour and fry it.

I have never heard of it. You can buy it in a supermarket. It kind of looks like a summer squash but is a dark purple in color. You cut it into slices and dip it in flour and then fry in olive oil. When that is done you put it layers like you would as if you were making lasagna with tomato sauce and cheese.
