The only reasons I remove my own questions is
(1) if I've had a load of stupid answers none of which deserve anybody's consideration. I don't believe in filling up the voting dept with rubbish.

(2)..If my question wasn't interesting enough for anybody to feel like answering. I take my ball in and sulk.

Nope, only when I realize that it would really hurt someones feelings or get removed by answers anyway.

I do... but it is because I look at it about 5 minutes later and think: "That is just an idiotic question - people will think you are a moron" - Besides, virtually nobody ever answers my questions... poor me.
