Ex: An adult who acts like a child will be treated as a child, rather than having the respect that he deserves as an adult. Why is society like that?

because you earn respect. If you do not show that you deserve it, then we dont give it. Its called common sense.

Actions define the character of a person. If an adult behaves as a child, why shouldn't s/he be treated as such? Would you treat a childish person with respect? Is this question a joke? How can you be serious? It's what on the inside that counts, as the old maxim states.

You think that an adult who acts like a child should get respect for being an adult, despite the fact that they don't act like one?

Because if you act like an idiot, why would I want to be around you at all so I'm going to treat you like an idiot. Same with adults that act like children. They act like one, I'll treat them like on.
