Could I make friends with these people in high school for my last four months of high school and the last semester. I've known them for all of school and always wanted to be friends with them but I never was able to and they gave me a very good opening this year but I was too shy, so they might be frustrated. DO you think I could? I don't want to try anymore if it can't work.

it can work, but dont try and push it. No one likes a "try hard".

The only way to find out is if you give it a try. Maybe they will turn out to be good friends after all or maybe not, only time will tell. When the hard times come real friends are most of the time there for you. As for shyness, its ok there's nothing wrong with that but it can keep you from doing things that might be good for you, like being afraid of opening up about something in fear of what they will think. You know the saying, 'honesty is the best policy' well...be true to yourself not just for being friends with them but all the time. I used to be shy too but now I learned that doesn't really get me anywhere, so I had to take risks and be strong for whatever that might offend me. But hey, at least I'm giving it a try and I'm trying, right? So goodluck and I hope all goes well.

It never hurts to try. They obviously saw something in you when they initiated the friendship. Just be yourself and relax!
