We can when everyone follows the rules of civilized behavior. But as you know, it would seem these rules are barely in existence these days.
And sometimes, some of us are actually just having a little fun in our tiring and boring days.
And you know who is who, I am sure!
And look at the way some of these people answered MY questions, Phil! Wah. They don't understand the question, and they assume I am the idiot!!

This is a good question. I have been around a few years and have many friends that I do not even know if they are a democrat or republican.
Most of them have common sense and vote for the people they think will best serve them and do not try to change everyone to their point of views. This new age of name calling, rudeness and everything goes is just plain wrong. I think the celebrities and comedians have pushed the limits on this!

I too am an Independent and I think it's a shame that bi-partisonship has gotten in the way of great ideas by both parties. They're supposed to work for the country not their own party.

Politics is not a question of policies. It's not a difference of opinion like wether you like mild or sharp cheddar cheese.
Politics is about how you see the world and relate to the people in it.
I find the world view of those in opposition to be truly vile. That makes me see tham as evil.
And I won't talk nice to evil.

Unfortunately thats politics. Its not just Reps and Dems either. Independents get involved in the "eye poking" and "toe stepping" too. However, I do understand where you are coming from and it is quite frustrating.

I doubt you'll see any civility. It's been tried, it didn't work.
What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
I love the classics.

Amen to that! I'm a democrat, but I'll be nice and make friends with anyone. I just avoid political arguments.
