Because of the ties that bin laden's family has with the Saudi Arabia royal family and massive amounts of money and contacts that they have. Also to keep them from being interrogated and held because of ties to Osama. Gave a good reason why they couldn't threaten Osama with if they didn't have any of the family here in the states.

Those family members that left had no ties to Osama, and if they did don't you think we would have had him by now??? They helped them get out of the country because when you know someone of the name Bin Laden, you think Osama and terrorism. After 9/11 the US would have been a very hostile place for them so it was common sense to get them out and to a safer place

I would hardly call Richard Clark a conservative. He's the one who arranged it. Bin Laden's family is estranged and actually helping the US, but they felt that they might be at risk here for retaliation.

consevatives in general wanted to interrogate them, as i did too
but the arguement from the pres, was "They could be harmed by the outraged people"

but i dont know why you blame conservatives, it just doesnt add up!

*and to all the people up there that scream "OIL" no, the bin ladens didnt have any ties with the suadi royal family and didnt get a share of the wealth, so we know its not that

Uh, Clinton counter-terrorist expert holdover Richard Clarke was responsible for their release, but:

1. They complied with requests for FBI interviews
2. They departed after the flight ban was lifted.

for the same reason we attacked Iraq (0 terrorists in 9/11) and not Saudi Arabia (15 terrorists in the 9/11 attack); GWB's PRIVATE agenda.

It doesnt bother me at all that they got them out to prevent people who might try to harm them.
It bothers me that the administration wasnt up front about it.
