Forget what your friends are doing or not doing. This is about you!
You can trim downthere from your age if you want to. Experiment with shaving and waxing. Some people prefer to wax although it is more painful, others shave because it is easier.
When the hair grows back, it feels kind of itchy so the trick is to keep it under control.
Good luck!

I think being a freshman is a bit young for getting waxed, but if your parents are okay with that, that's a different story.
As for waxing vs. shaving...it depends on your pain tolerance. Waxing will last longer, but it's going to hurt (it won't hurt as bad as you continue to do it, but it's still no walk in the park). Shaving won't last as long, and you might get razor burn. Both will have possible irritation of some sort. It won't hurt letting it grow out. It's not bad to leave it alone completely, but some women prefer to keep groomed (or get rid of all hair). It's all about personal preference.
Do what you feel comfortable with and have a talk with your Mom about it. She was your age once, you know. :) Good luck.

Waxing down there hurts a lot! I did it once and will never do it again. Shaving there is just like shaving anywhere else, it doesn't hurt when it grows back but sometimes you may experience iching or ingrown hairs. If you want to shave your pubic area go ahead, it will always grow back if you don't like it. Many women simply shave any hair that sticks out from their panty line so when they wear a bathing suit or such none will be sticking out. Otherwise, since your a freshman I wouldn't worry about it unless you are planning on someone looking at you down there, which I don't recommend till your older. Good luck.

Okay, this is purely opinion, but you're still in high school, freshman in high school. Girls do that for the viewing pleasure of their "man". You have to decide if you want to do it for your own sense of belonging, or if you want to be yourself. You are too young to be thinking of doing things that are usually reserved for those who are not only sexually active, but highly active! Yes, there are problems with either method. Shaving can lead to ingrown hairs, razor bumps that itch (which can give that someone special a bad thought when they accidentally see you taking care of the problem when you thought no one was looking) and if your not careful, a painful razor cut...ouch! Waxing is painful at least the first few times, and can cause some serious side effects, not in most people, but enough to cause alarm for a young woman. There is the possibility of bruising, ingrown hairs, torn skin, burned skin, infection, and if you go for the full blown brazilian wax, actual damage that changes your anatomy down there. If you must do it, find a highly recommended professional, get the consent forms signed, talk to your mom or aunt about the whole idea and why you want to do it. Really examine why you want to do it. IF IT DON"T FEEL RIGHT, DON"T DO IT!!!! Okay, I understand cleaning up for bathing suit season, but there is a limit that is crossed. Yes...Some girls do it because it makes them feel better about that particular area, not because of the peer pressure, but many do it because they have this idea that guys like it that way, which means they hope they find a guy who wants to look, which in turn means doing the do, which leads to all sorts of problems for a girl your age. Be yourself, nooooooo...it's perfectly fine and natural to let it be what it is and not do anything! It startles me that a smart young girl your age is even thinking about these things. Later in life, you may want to, and that's perfectly fine, because you will be of an age where you can think clearly about the reasons why you want to do it, right now, not so much brain work as hormones at work. Think twice, then 10 more times before taking this step. Or, go get waxed and find out that it might be more painful than what it's worth. And take lots of money because it costs alot, and if someone's nice enough to do the down under job for you, you better tip them good.

You are a little bit young to start shaving in that area, and I would strongly suggest waiting until your Junior year at least. The only problem with shaving is that you have to do it much more often than waxing...shaving doesn't hurt as much though...not to mention that regardless if you shave or wax..the hair grows back and gets itchy. Your choice dear.

If your talking about just your bikini line, I'd say shave it. It's easier and cheaper.
On the other hand, if your talking about shaving everything (or a brazilian type of grooming), you're too young. No one should be seeing it yet anyway except for you and your doctor, so don't go through the trouble. Trust me...keeping it up is a pain. Enjoy what nature gave you while your still young.
Actually...on another note, don't shave it at all. Groom, yes...you don't want strays sticking out of your underwear, but don't give into the fad of being bare. Appreciate having a little insulation down there. It's how mother nature intended! Gosh darnit!

shaving is definately better than waxing, especially down there... ahh. it feels like a bad aid ripping off. shaving doesnt do anything bad and it grows back in about 2-3 days. for SOME people, little itchy bumps come up, but theres solutions out there for that. and the right time is when u have hair growing "down there", your ready. theres nothing to be scared about! if u want to feel more free then do it, just cuz ur friends are doing it doesnt mean u have to.

Don't feel pressurized into shaving. It's perfectly OK to leave it and natural... As a first-timer though, I would recommend shaving, it doesn't last as long but waxing can hurt a lot if your skin's not used to the hair being taken away. And no, of course it doesn't hurt when it grows back! It's just like any normal hair, does your head hurt when your hair grows? Of course not.
Be careful to rub soap into it first to stop you cutting yourself with the razor.
Good luck and remember, just because your friends do, doesn't mean you have to!
Live, be individual.

I don't think there is a specific age that you should start. I think if you aren't comfortable with how it looks, then you should do something about it. If you are comfortable, and nobody sees it anyway, then I would just leave it alone for now. However, if you DO decided to go hairless, I would recommend getting youself a good esthetician, and waxing ever 4-5 weeks. It'll grow in thinner and thinner as time goes on. I used to shave when I was younger and it is ITCHY when it grows back. There's nothing sexy about an itchy cooch.

waxing hurts sooo bad and shaving doesnt last as long. when it starts to grow back, its all prickley and hurts too. first off, whos going to see down there to know if you do or dont shave it?!?! the main thing you need to do is clean up the bikini line if youre going swimming or something. its really a preference. most women dont shave at all.
