I was given Cervidil Suppostiories when I was induced with my son. Your OB or MidWife will insert a pill and rub it around your cervix, its not the most comfortable feeling... anyways... they will most likely have you get up and walk around and then your cervix should start dialating. I dialated 2 cm in about 5 hrs then my OB broke my water and my labor progressed from there!!! HTH!!! Good luck!!!

What I was given to induce my last two labors was called Cytotec, I'm not sure if it's the same. Mine was a pill they put just inside of your cervix. You have to stay in bed until an hour after it's inserted for it to dissolve and not come out. It did work great and was so much better than the pitocin I was given with my first! It caused contractions on top of just helping me dialate, and once I was to a 4 they came in and broke my water. My second was a 6 hour labor and my third was an 11 hour labor, which were much better then the 24 hours with my first! If they are giving you a choice between that and pitocin do the cervidil!

It was inserted into my cervix and I was told I couldn't get up for 6 hours. I responded rather slowly (so I hear) to it. During the last 30 minutes before my son was born, contractions were so unbearable and I was in so much pain. When doctors finally came in and checked, I was 9 1/2 centimeters dialated and they basicaly tore my cervix trying to take the cervidil out. I don't reccommend this product at all.

it was given to my sister. It was inserted in her up against her cervix for 12 hours and then they checked her to see if it had softened her cervix. After that they issued her some pitocin. I don't like the Cervidil. It's a long grooling process.

I was given Cervidil when they induced me with my son. It didn't work for me at all. It made my son's heart rate rise and I didn't dialate at all. I ended up having a c-section.

I was, they insert it up next to your cervix. My baby responded badly to it (heart rate increased dramatically), so they took it out. The next morning I started the pitocin and they broke my water about 6 hours into that, then my baby responded badly to that (heart rate went down dramatically) so they stopped the pitocin. Labor did not progress on its own so I had to have a c-section. I don't mean my story to scare you, just letting you know the range of responses that can happen.
