Is standing good for your back? Laying down?

yes it is. (generally anyway, unless you have some weird defect in your back)
Sitting up straight causes your back muscles to remain active, making them stronger and meanwhile keeping your vertebrae in their natural position. If you slouch too much, the soft mass between the vertebrae can get pressed to much and actually spring aleak. If that happens, you might cause serious damage to your back (and hence put the nerve tracts in there at risk) as well as risk serious pain and permanent injury.
The pressure on your spine is best absorbed in either a normal standing or sitting straight. A laying position, with the back properly supported, alleviates pressure on the spine.
Normally, when standing, pretty much the pressure of the weight of your whole upper body rests on your spine and if you stand or sit straight, it is designed to cope with that pressure. But if you sit in positions other than the erect one, this will increase the wear and tear on your spine's shock absorbtion capability and thus increase the risk of injury in the long run.

sitting up straight is good for ur back. It keeps the spine from becoming in pain and getting back problems. Standing up is fine but u should try standing somewhat straight and not for too long. Thats when i get pains in my back, from standing too long. I find that laying down either puts me in pain or helps me. It varies from what pain im in. (keep in mind that i have back problems)

yeah theyre both good, but it's a habit to slouch. when you're a dancer or if you dance a lot, you'll sit with your back straight without even noticing.
