I almost moved to this same area 6 months ago. After going and staying for a while, house hunting and checking out the area. I decided I would stay in sunny CA. The person before me really painted a pretty good picture of that town. It is old. There is a fairly new mall, but that is all there is. You would have to drive about 20 miles south to get to a larger city. Wilkes Barre is not so bad in some areas. They have a very large retail area. There is also and event arena where they have concerts and such. I have family that live in the area. I go back each summer to visit, but as for living there...its not for me. I think you should go during the fall/winter time so you know what its like. Mostly grey and cloudy with rain on most days. And the summers are hot and muggy. I'm sure it's a great place for some people...just not for me.
