A. Mercer, what you are describing is a pyramid scheme, and those are illegal. MLM's are companies that market a product(s), through a specific distribution channel. As long as there are buyers, you will have successful MLM's. I am involved with Amway, and they have been around for nearly 50 years now.
I have met numerous people that have retired from conventional jobs on the income from their business. And no, it is not saturated. The same way that Christianity has not been saturated after 2000 years.
MLM properly executed, is the one business where you can only be successful, if you help other people to be successful. It is therefor based on a much more sound business/life principle, than most conventional businesses. Although, even in conventional business the ones that thrive are the one's that diligently serve a customer need, treat their employees well etc.
The difference with MLM, is that if you don't do that, you will not get off the ground.
Yes, there are sharks in the business, like everywhere else in life. Look out for large upfront fees, for whatever reason. (Nothing more than a couple of 100 dollars, max.)
Look for a good education system. And good products also help. But don't think it is money for nothing - it is hard work, and requires leadership from you.

MLM will prosper! MLM gaints like WMA, WLG and Primerica, etcs. have been around for more than 20 years, and today, they are growing at a very rapid rate. This is due to their constant recruitment and word of mouth.
Soon the world will be filled with MLMers, and there will be no corporate America; every industrial jobs will be outsourced.
MLM is a good job, if you're someone who's self-dedicated, very charsmatic and can stay motivated. However, not only these characteristics will make you a good MLMer and get the promotion or downlines you need. A future MLMer(recruit) must be able to sell to customers and market the business to be successful in a pyramid scheme business like MLM.
Many has tried, many has failed and gone on to something else other than MLM. MLM is not for everyone, just like how school isn't for everyone.
I've attended a few MLM sessions, but I was never convinced if MLM is a good business to go under. I have my reasons for not joining.

MLM is a business model. You will find similarities in all MLM businesses. Whether it is Zrii, Isagenic, Monavie or any other network marketing/MLM business the same struggles and statistics apply to all. 97% in fact fail to profit from participating in MLM. After saying that you would expect me to be against mlm, right? I am not. The truth is that there are marketing and advertising skills that can be learned outside of MLM company training to attract people to what you have to offer. Many companies teach you to get your friends and family in the business in your first few weeks and give incentives such as bonus commissions. Is Zrii, Isagenic or Mona Vie any different? No. I have some great links to mlm facts and tools in my profile page here. The facts page shows that many of the traditional training techniques actually do more harm then good. I have many other research links that I would be willing to share from countless hours of my own research on the industry. Best Regards!

Multi level marketing will always be around. It is easier than ever to get people involved with them now days. They are using the internet to recruit and make their operations look pretty slick.
In my life, I have met more lottery winners (1 person in Texas) than people who have gotten rich or even made sustained income from a MLM. All MLM will try to make you believe that they are different and that they will have so many millionaires in a years time but they are all full of the same thing. Hot air.
Multilevel Marketing companies need people to fail in order for it to succeed. Simple math can show this. Lets say that 20 years ago a person starts up a company. In the first year, that person recruits 4 people and then recruits no more (unlike the real world where they would always be recruiting). Each of those recruits will do the same. They recruit 4 the next year and stop. This goes on and on, each year the next batch of recruits will get 4 people and then stop. After the 20 years are up there would be 1,099,810,000,000 in the company. That is 170 times bigger than the worlds population. That is also only if each recruit is limited to only recruiting 4 people. What does this mean? A MLM will need people to fail in order to prevent itself from getting too big but also allowing money to go up the chain thru various fees and dues and such. The people join and then fail but the money they put in stills goes to the top. There is a point where the MLM is just a vampire waiting for the next victim. If it gets too many people it will fail, but it needs to have people constantly joining it. Therefore, a MLM needs people to fail for it to succeed. And not just a few. It needs a lot of people to fail.

For an MLM / Network Marketing opportunity to work you need Affordable Products That Sell Well And Marketing Systems That Work !!
1. You need products that sell like Chocolates at Easter-Time, Toys at Christmas, Turkeys on Thanksgiving or Cold Drinks during a summer heatwave.
2. The products must be AFFORDABLE to most people, EVERYBODY must be able to afford to buy them and the products MUST be consumable, so they generate REPEAT BUSINESS (this is SO important!)
3. You can't be asking your prospects to pay anything up-front, like an associate joining or registration fee, or be made to buy some kind of “Business starter kit”. No !
4. The business system, support system and marketing plan must be SO SIMPLE and is MUST BE very EASY TO FOLLOW, so that even a complete novice should be able to get to at least $500 per month in on-going earnings within just a few short months !!!
Here’s a great example: http://www.IanParkin.info
And. Try the Business Opportunity Search Engine
Your results from the community powered Business Opportunity Search Engine are much more focused than a general search engine and they will continue to learn and adapt, anonymously and automatically, based on the search behavior of every search you request. http://www.businessopportunitysearchengine.com

MLM is the fastest growing industry in the world today, but like all industries there are good companies and bad companies, the secret is to find the good ones. There is one company which stands out above all others and it is the only MLM company that the billionaire Donald Trump has ever endorsed. His research team looked very deeply into this company and he said that in his opinion it was probably the best opportunity in the world today for its ethics, honesty and integrity.
It is a multi-national opportunity and is growing at around 45% per year in a trillion dollar marker place.
If you would like more information take a look at this web site www.iolair.acnrep.com where you will get an overview of the business.

Many people forget that they are in business. All MLM feature a business that the business has to be doing everyday. Failure to do this business will result in failure everywhere.
MLM is only a club feature where there are other business people that are doing the same thing that you are doing. If you have 100 people at a football stadium selling sodas, nobody will make any money if no one sell any sodas. If the group get together and decide how they will sell sodas each person still have to sell sodas even if they share in the profit of 50 of the other sellers.
People don't seem to understand that the basic business is the most important thing.

It's not a job. You are the business owner and responsible for growing it. I did Amway to see how it works, didn't like it, then joined Mannatech and am one of the biggest leaders in the Southern California area.
