You bet. They should have had the child under control before boarding and the article stated they had already delayed take-off for this. Also, it's against regulations to have a person over 2 years of age unbuckled during take-off.
Say the plane took off and their child got hurt...who wants to bet the parents would have sued the he$% out of this airline...

Yes! I strongly agree with the decision. I am sick and tired of people trying to appease these parents for not being able to control their whiny children. Today's kids seem more and more out of control than ever before. It see it in the mall, at the grocery store, in the bank, at eating places, all across the board. Even at school plays, one cannot hear the performance because someone wasn't bright enough to hire a babysitter. Why should other people have to suffer the irritating shrieks of an unruly child? Some of these parents need to learn (and actually make an attempt to) discipline their children. Now I do not endorse child abuse, but some of these kids need to be spanked and shown how to act in public. The kids need to act with restraint and respect for their parents and others around them.

Absolutely. Parenting is at an all time low. There is absolutely no discipline anymore.
Parents are spoiling their kids so much teaching them that the world revolves around them. Kids think they can do what they want and parents dont' discipline them at all. If you can't control a 3 year old, God help society when that kid gets to be a teen.
Making people have to be late for flights, while holding up connecting flights because 2 crappy parents cant' even discipline a 3 year old is unacceptable.
I have friends that have a 4 year old girl and this kid is out of control around her parents. She goes to bed around 11 pm and does whatever she pleases.
At her grandma's house the grandparents are disciplined, she takes naps, and goes to bed @ 8:30 pm every night. She seems happier and is a joy to be around. Kids need discipline and are better for it.
What a self absorbed society we've become if we think this is acceptable. Kick them off of the plane and teach them that if they can't discipline their kid, it's not acceptable for others to have to pay for it.

Yes. The parents were given ample time toget their child under control. 15 mins is a life time to a kid that age. I don't agree with letting them break the rules either. They are there for a reason and i'd put money on it that they would be the first to sue if something went wrong.
I'm also a mom of a two year old and I understand kids can act up, but it doesn't mean I let my kid carry on either. I don't expect the world to stop for me or my problem.

No - if it were a different (cheaper) case, such as the child having a tantrum in a restaurant or store where she could have been left at home, I'd say they should remove the family, in order to let the other customers have a good experience.
But in this case, the parents could not have possibly left the child at home - they were probably going away for more than just a few days, and possibly on a vacation for the family.
It would have been immoral to kick out the family - they would have just taken another plane anyway, and not to allow them on the plane would have ruined their planning - I'm sure you know how hard it is to plan a trip via airplane. All the packing, and costs, and arrangements one must make, plus the parents had to find time to get off work for their vacation, which it probably was, and they were probably looking forward to getting away.
It's very hard to control a young child - you've heard of "terrible twos", right? Well, it doesn't go away so quickly, and can turn into the terrible threes or fours - it wouldn't have been proper to punish the parents, after all their hard work, and to punish a child that isn't really any worse than many children her age.

YES! There is the issue of other passengers safety and the fact that if there was an emergency, would the fitful child prevent it's family from getting off the plane safely. It had nothing to do with the noise the child made. It is emergency issues here.

Little kids and rules sometimes just don't jive. Only a parent can sympathize here. This is no reflection on the parents. Sometimes a kid is going to throw a tantrum and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I don't think I would have followed the letter of the law in this case. I just would have let her mommy hold her during takeoff. That airline needs to make viewing 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' a part of their employee training.

Absolutely, and to boot, I think they should be barred from ALL public transportation until the child is 30.
Kids like that are so friggen annoying, its time parents were shown how to control kids vs the kids controlling them.

wow, i read about that. Seems terrible. I hate to judge a situation without having witnessed it, but it seems like it was a pretty harsh reaction. They said that the plane was already delayed 15 minutes for them, but the kid was only 3 yrs old!! Seems like someone could have given the kid a piece of candy and got her to sit still.

Yes - if it is causing enough of a disruption to make others feel uneasy and annoyed, or worse, more panicked than they already are being on a plane.
