Gobies are saltwater =)

No the two can not be mixed. Freshwater gobies are small (half the size of a sword tail) and cichlids are mostly carnivores. They eat smaller fish! I have a freshwater tank and have bumblebee gobies so there must be such a thing as freshwater gobies...unless I have been mislead by three+ pet stores.

No, there are no freshwater gobies. There are saltwater gobies and a few brackishwater gobies, but none can spend extended periods of time in freshwater.
