At the end of the first one, you see her making love and reaching for an icepick, only to let it go.
She either (a) has been the killer all along, or (b) has found some satisfaction mimmicking the killer, but ultimately decides not to murder.
For some strange reason, I've always liked (b) better. Because a psychopath wouldn't fall in love and let that get in the way of a good sex-murder. But who knows.
