As far as I remember from my biology lessons, the only part of your body that is completely useless is your appendix, which is only good for getting infected and putting you at risk of dying a most gruesome agonizing death. I think it was in the past used as another defense mechanism for your body, but later simply became redundant.
Btw, bellybuttons are very important. Without them your stomach would be exposed and you'd get a whole heap of infections 'n what not. The part of the belly button you truly don't need usually falls off naturally not too long after birth.
Oh and if you think you don't need two kidneys, ask people who have only one how easy their lives are. Sure they can survive, but they have to be constantly watchful with their salt intake and what they eat or their one sorry kidney won't be able to cope anymore.

responding to mighty c he that the spleen has no function but the spleen has a function it is where the blood cells are destroyed it is the site of blood cell destruction and the coccyx also has a function The coccyx is a vestigial organ in humans. In other species, it supports a tail and accommodates its nerves. It provides an attachment for muscles, such as the gluteus maximus, and serves as something of a shock absorber when the person sits down, although forceful impact can cause damage and subsequent bodily pains. the right answer is the appendix

I agree with mmmm...The belly botton was an umbilical cord, without it, mothers couldn't bear babies. The appendix is not a very useful organ. Some people have to get them surgically removed to prevent infection. As for the kidney, you need both kidneyes to function. If you're just left with one, then the single organ would have to over work to do the worload of two. In addtion, we have two kidneys so in case one fails, we still have another one for backup.

The belly button is fundamentally just a scar where your umbilical cord was attached to the placenta when you were in the room.
The appendix is important and is much larger in herbivores. Rabbits and goats have rather large appendixs (appendices?). But, in humans, it seems to have no function.

The appendix. One kidney. Evolution takes place over millions and millions of years. Chances are, in a million years, human beings won't have an appendix and perhaps only one kidney. We probably are evolving; we just haven't "arrived" yet. I don't know what the appendix may have been used for before.
