These days we always think of Japan as the RPG gods. So we blame them for our problem. But we don't understand the WE'RE the ones causing the RPG problem. WoW, Guild Wars, D&D (which sucks). What can we do to bring these RPGs to their knes?

Many people enjoy RPGs and I admit to being one of them.

As for blaming RPGs for causing personal problems, I'd say that it's really not the games or the game companies that should be blamed for any misfortune that happens in a gamer's life.

Yes, they produce the games and put it out in the market for everyone to buy, and it does cause some to be very addicted to these games, but you have to stop and realize that everyone has control over themselves.

I believe with the phrase, "So we blame them for our problem" you meant that people who play these games become addicted, and this addiction leads to personal problems. Am I correct?

If so, I would say that problems that arise in a gamer's life is not to be blamed on by the games or the companies that create them, but more the individual himself who allowed a game to control his life.

Games are enjoyable and can pass the time very quickly, but people should know when to limit themselves. Everything has a time and a place, gamers should know when to step away from the game and take care of more important things in their lives.

Losing your job, going through divorce, falling behind in school, these are all misfortunes that could have been controlled by an individual if game addiction was the purpose behind it.

Addictions can be dealt with. If you're addicted to a game, step away from it slowly and gradually the gaming will stop controlling your life. Learn to acknowledge what is most important in your life and make that your first priority. Games will always be there for you to enjoy. Important things come first, then play.

We keep buying them, because RPG is the best game type available!

Really...Other than silly online casual games, I'm not interested in anything else. I can't even watch FPS's, 'cause I get sick to my stomach!

I'd be lost without RPG's...I can't wait to get thru the one I'm working on now, so that I can start to enjoy the next one! I haven't had the chance to get into WoW yet, but I'm certain I'll be stuck on the computer for months, once I do.

The question is: why do we keep buying the crappy ones? RPG's can be fun but I wouldn't buy another until reviewing what's out there carefully.

Rent first and only buy the ones you really like.
