I work as a legal assistant and I am a Mother of 3, so I can totally relate to being exhausted, but if you are hoping to get a job in this field or any field, you need to show up for work.
Are you trying to say that it takes 4 hours to go and get your daughter? To work only 4 hours means you have at least 3 hours to get other things done so that by the time you pick up your daughter all that stuff is done and you can relax and spend time with your daughter.
I work full-time, get home at 5:30, make dinner for my kids, help with homework, do a load of laundry, the dishes, clean up and maybe have time to watch T.V.
There was no reason you couldn't have called your teacher and the attorney that you work for and say you can't come in because you are not feeling well or daughter wasn't feeling well. There is no excuse not to call, it is just being responsible to call and let people know that you can't come in. What if the lawyer was working for you and were waiting at the Courthouse for him to come and represent you and he just didn't show up, didn't call or anything. Have some respect for those around you.
Working as a legal assistant can be fun, but it is a work. I work so I can make a living and support my family, isn't that what you want to?

Honey its called life, I work 8:30 - 4:30 pick up 3 kids at daycare, you can't just not go in because you don't want to if that was the case almost all people would never go to work.

Well I hate to say it, but you should have considered this before you signed up. I guess you can call and tell the instructor your story, but anything you say will sound like an excuse. You need to accept that this is life and it can be overwhelming. Time to put on your big girl face and do what you need to to get what you want.

Maybe its to much for you to handle, so what you need to do is make a decision and cut down on your time or make a schedule. And talk to your boss maybe you can make a better planning that you can have time. Maybe hire a temp to help out with your work.

I would be totally honest and talk to them both right away, explain you feel overwhelmed etc,,,,,just like you did here. most people are understanding and will work with you.........Just take the bull by the horns and 'git it done" the more time that passes the harder it will be.
