I hear you. That used to happen to me too. It's not fair! Try changing seats or very subtly lean your arm to block your answers or just rat the person out. Letting someone coast is not doing them a favour in the long run because their grades won't reflect any actual learning. If they did that in each class then they would graduate & get a degree based on lies then they would go out in the world ignorant & with no knowledge. Plus they will learn that cheating, deceiving & sponging off someone else works. Then they will go into politics or law...
Tee hee ok I'm a bit bitter today. I always hated when people sponged off of me though. What I really hated were group projects then I would end up in a group with a bunch of brain-dead lazy *** useless toads who wouldn't do anything so I'd do all the work, get us an A & they'd get to share the glory when I did all the work! Not fair!!!
I'm glad I'm not in school anymore...I was a straight A student too.

There is a way but you won't like it. If you are absolutely certain that the other person is copying, here is what you do: On 2 separate tests, deliberately mark ALL the wrong answers so you get a big fat ZERO. After the first test, tell your teacher to look out on the 2nd. test. If the teacher notices that the other kid also got a zero and marked exactly the same answers you did, you are free and clear. The other kid is clueless and will get into trouble. You, on the other hand, still have 2 zeros that you may have a hard time explaining to your parents.

bring an extra folder to make a tent around your answer page, shield your paper with your arm. i used to rest my arm on the table and lean on it so the person had to work at seeign my answers and ther for would get caught and it was in no way directly my fault.

Either change your seat or talk to your teacher after class about what is going on.

try to cover your answers with a folder of a blank sheet of paper. it's not fair that you study hard to make an A and they just cheat off of you.

Pull your teacher aside in private and tell them you suspect your 'partner' of cheating. Make sure that they will keep your name private (or if you're not comfortable with that, talk to a councillor and have them talk to the teacher). That way they can keep an eye out, and you don't have to reveal that you were on to them.

Either talk to the person quietly, outside of class and say you know what they are up to, or try and change your seat.
