I don't consider myself childish, but people think that just because the symptoms of my mental illness gets the best of me, then they think I'm acting like a child. I'm 23 years old with a college degree, & kids think that they're older than me & have no respect for me. People call me childish because they see me as vulnerable & an easy target to be taken advantage of. I don't act like a child intentionally. I mean, do you feel that if an adult acts like a child, then they should be treated like a child, or do you think he/she lost or doesn't deserve the respect of being treated as an adult?

I have a hard time getting the respect I deserve, & people treat me mean for no reason, & people feel that I alienate society away from me. I don't understand how. I'm a very nice person, I'm very sweet, kind, caring, & giving. People just want to use me like I'm a free bank or free supermarket.

what disease makes you act this way?

Kids will try to get away with anything. Instead of seeing that they need to step up because Mommy is sick they are treating you like crap. That means they are teenagers or they are spoiled little brats. you need to sit them down and have a talk on one of the days you can act like an adult.

Basically, you get what you give. So if you are acting childish (in their opinion), you'll be treated as such. If you don't like being treated that way, you'll have to change your behavior. It's your behavior that is causing their reaction. You don't get respect by your achievements alone. You have to show respect and earn their respect in return.
