Everyone has been wrongly discrimnated against or pre-judged before, for no other reson than their outward apperance, or the color of their skin, or any disabilities they may have, and knows how that feels. And yet that same person will turn around and per-judge or discrimnate against someone else. My big question is WHY!!!!

Because MOST people just don't believe that THEY can ever be the OBJECT of discrimination! NOT THEM!

Fear and ignorance. Some people are afraid of what's different from them or their life experiences. They would rather judge and discriminate against these differences than actually take the time to get to know the individual person. Tis a shame, as they might have found a great friend in someone who looks a little different than they do.

Their loss. *shrug*

1. Human and animal instinct to associate similar stimuli with previous experience or pre-conditioning.
2. Many cultures exist, born from different environments, different histories, different genetic make up naturally selected for adoptation, different set of behaviors also naturally selected for adoptation. When these cultures are brought together to share or compete for one geographical location these cultures might clash, spurring one group to dislike the other.

I have noticed though that when we in the cultural minorities are associated with positive stereotypes we are proud of it but when it's negative we call foul. We all have biases against people from different races, but we play the victim in a world built up by a western civilization, driven by greed and competition. I choose not to play the same game, as a consequence I may be pre-judged, looked down upon, and oppressed, but I am not that affected.

Ignorance and fear of the unknown.
Some people boost their self esteem by degrading others for whatever reason. THEY are the ones with the problem.

To the one who has never been discriminated against for any reason. God Bless You sister.
I can't imagine a life without anyone ever calling you a name or making fun of you or calling you stupid, etc. I must be in the wrong world.

3 words: Fear, Insecurity and Ignorance... They feel in a way threatened by people or things that are different... People who discriminate are so used to be in a certain environment, or with certain people... than when something changes, they are not used to it, they don't know how to react and they feel insecure...

Hope that ends soon...

I think it is a defense mechanism for people that do not have reason backing their thoughts and beliefs.
I mean just look at the gay community when you ask the whys for their agenda.
next thing you know your a bigot, homophobe, stupid person, ignorant, closet case, etc etc.
All these names used equal discrimination.
But then again don't we discriminate every time we choose to use salt or pepper?

its because they want people to think their cool. they want to be accepted and think that if they act like the other people do then they wont be discriminated. but some people on the other hand actually stand up for the person being discriminated. those are the ones that dont care about wut other people think and fight for wut they believe in.
