How do I play dvd on laptop?

Please help, I have a Inspirion Dell Laptop.

i assume it has a dvd drive, just insert the disc. if that doesnt work open up windows mediavplayer then goto play on the menu bar, highlight play dvd, vcd or cd audio and then select the drive letter

Does your inspiron have a DVD player on it? You should be able to look at the drive and see a label that says "DVD." If you do, just put the DVD into the tray. Most will automatically load the software Dell has included for viewing DVDs (WinDVD or Cyberlink.) You can also view them through the Windows Media Player. If no program loads, open the DVD player software and then opt to play the movie. It's very likely that your "auto-play" feature has been disabled. To enable it, x2 click on My Computer, right-click on your DVD drive and select properties. Then click on the Auto-Play, tab. Under content type select DVD movie. Select the option that best suits you and click OK.

if you don't see the DVD label on your drive, you can buy a DVD player for your Inspiron from Dell. They are very cheap and easy to swap out. (Push and release the little tab at the bottom right and then pull the tab to remove the drive.) Good Luck.

first off, your laptop needs to have a DVD ROM player, look at ur CD tray on ur laptop. see the logo on the left of the drive? it has an image of a disk and the letters DVD above and ROM on the bottom? your CD tray MUST have this logo on it! if it does not, you will not be able to play DVD. Good news is that they are easy to update or you can buy a portable one (plug it into your USB port)

if your CD tray has the logo, then any dvd player should be able to play the DVD movie. I believe Windows Media Player 10 can play DVD Movies. If not research a bit, i google-d "free DVD Player" and found quite a bit. I have not used any so i could not vouch for them. maybe open a new thread as to "what the best DVD Player for Windows is?"

If you do have a dvd drive and it doesn't play it it's mostly because YOU DON"T HAVE A DVD DECODER installed in your windows MEDIA PLAYER just like every common player can play .avi files but if it's DiVX you can only hear sound but not the video unless you install the DIVX DECODER. to play your DVD you need to download some DVD CODEC!!!

if your laptop has a DVD player you can put the DVD in the player and it will play. If you have just a CD it won't work.

Put the CD-DVD into your CD-DVD drive. Is it a peripheral for your laptop? Your laptop may not have a CD-DVD drive. You need to check your laptop.

well, on my laptop all i have to do is stick the dvd in and wait for the window to pop up, but if that doesnt work, i go to my computer and click on the dvd icon ^_^

put in dvd, there should be a a program assigned to play the dvd enjoy, if no program comes up, i use a progam called videolan.
