No way...I know their fake.
But did you know how many people called the number of "God" that showed up on Jim Carrey's pager in the movie Bruce Almighty? The producers actually made it a real number and it was a recording about the movie. I never called it, but I read about it in a magazine.
sorry, I am a bottomless pit of useless information.

I think this is the reason why all telephone number is movies and on TV start with the "555" exchange. The phone company does not issue any telephone numbers with that exchange. Saves a lot of people from any crank calls.

I have before but I don't do it all the time. I just read an ad the other day about someone getting massive amounts of calls because of the movie Bruce Almighty, apparently they would call this lady and ask for God and then just hang up. She was in Great Britain or somewhere like that.

Some cable companies offer that service now. In my area if your TV is cable and you also have Telephone service through the Cable company, you can opt for your caller ID info to appear on your TV screen. It can do so because all the info runs through the same cabling. And, as for unidentified numbers, I do not see that as rude. You are not even obligated to EVER answer your phone, if you wish not to. Your phone is for YOUR convenience not others'. I NEVER answer unidentified/blocked number calls.
